You have to work up a sweat!
Monday, July 26th, 2010I have been an avid walker for years and as the time continues to roll by, I am well aware that the same old workout is not doing enough to keep my metabolism burning high enough to make being slim a given anymore! It’s time to turn up the heat, pick up the pace and work up a sweat! Who’s ready to go?
It’s as simple as turning a fast walk into a speed walk and watch the beads of sweat begin to form on your forehead. Or you can take it up to a trot or even a run. Whatever get the heart pumping faster and gets you starting to sweat.

I’m confident you will see wonderful results on your scale and in how your clothes begin to feel in a couple weeks!
Let me know…
Take a Walk on the Bright Side!
Monday, April 19th, 2010All heck breaks loose when you lose your password!
Saturday, February 27th, 2010Well, the time came to get a new computer after having spent hours and a few too many dollars wrestling with detecting the problem, virus scanning and ultimately installing a new hard drive during the holiday at the end of 2009. Kept me out of the fridge though!
So here I am in February and the same things start showing up: slowing of the system, “not responding” messages and just plain freezing up! The truth reveals itself to me louder than ever: “Lisa, it’s time to stop spending time and money on fixing it and just buy a brand new computer!”
So I did and I am absolutely elated!
My curiosity is, why does it sometimes take getting hit over the head or another such profound awakening metaphor to make us move in the direction that is ultimately forward? Why are we so quick to fall back into complacency and futility?
Of course I am relating this to weight and health, you know that right?
I was talking with my wonderful partner of 10 years last night and we were pondering why it is so difficult for people to change their behaviours that no longer work for them and adopt new behaviors that are better suited for the current situation including their new dreams and desires for their life. In talking about it I realized that most people just want to stop one thing and begin another the next day. It just doesn’t happen that way!

I'm no good at this game! I can't even hit the ball! This game is no fun and frankly... I quit!
What does success mean to you?
Tuesday, August 25th, 2009What does the end result of your hopes and dreams and goals really look like? Do you know?
Without knowing exactly, to the tee, what your desired outcome will be … what do you have to hold on to when the going gets tough?
Most of us resort to thinking what we don’t want when we are faced with a challenge and low and behold, what we usually get in response to that is temporary relief but ultimately we never really solve the issue and it always resurfaces!
Take trying to lose weight. You are having a bad day and you want to eat that tuna fish sandwich to soothe your pain, but you know it’s not good for you and it will blow your plan. So do you visualize your lean, strong, sleek new physique to help you get past it? Or do you think about why you can’t have it and get pissed and feel crappy enough to for sure not eat it now!!!
Do you see how the two scenarios will have a completely different outcome both in the short run and the long run?
Let me know your thoughts on this.
