We barely even realize it’s happening except when we try to do things like get in shape, lose weight or stop other annoying and unhealthy habits. When we do this, time seems to creep by and the success that is always “over time” seems to be way off in the distance!
Sad but true, all good things in life take time and effort. It’s the easy things that are no good for you and cause you physical and emotional distress. Take “fast food” for instance. It’s fast and it’s loaded with empty calories and FAT! It tastes good and it’s NO GOOD for you!
We as a society need to realize that it’s time to slow down and smell the roses. We need to slow down and appreciate our body for the phenomenal finely tuned machine it is meant to be. In fact, so finely tuned that each of us needs to pay much closer attention to what the body needs for nutrition if we hope to enjoy a quality of life later on that is mostly pain free, illness free and you are able to enjoy everyday life.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
Be happy, be healthy and slow down!
Talk to you soon.

What does the end result of your hopes and dreams and goals really look like? Do you know?
Without knowing exactly, to the tee, what your desired outcome will be … what do you have to hold on to when the going gets tough?
Most of us resort to thinking what we don’t want when we are faced with a challenge and low and behold, what we usually get in response to that is temporary relief but ultimately we never really solve the issue and it always resurfaces!
Take trying to lose weight. You are having a bad day and you want to eat that tuna fish sandwich to soothe your pain, but you know it’s not good for you and it will blow your plan. So do you visualize your lean, strong, sleek new physique to help you get past it? Or do you think about why you can’t have it and get pissed and feel crappy enough to for sure not eat it now!!!
Do you see how the two scenarios will have a completely different outcome both in the short run and the long run?
Let me know your thoughts on this.

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” - President Barak Obama
I am so moved by this quote I had to share it with you.
There is no person or thing that will change your life for you in ways that you are so longing for other than you. You are the change you are looking for. You are the one.
I recently heard this metaphor about change that I also want to share with you: If you want milk, you can’t just go stand in a field and wait for a cow to come up to you… you have to seek it, find it and get it!
Hope you are inspired to take action on making that changes that you really really want in your life… starting NOW!
All my best to all of you!

In a conversation with an acquaintance today, he asked if I thought this health care “thing” would work or not in this country. I had to be honest, until people start taking full responsibility for their own health and well being instead of thinking that others need to take care of them… we will never be able to have a national health care system that is fair and works.
It’s a complicated issue, but it also can be simplified by tracing back the roots of the problem. If a person is not willing to do what they need to do to attain and then maintain good health, who is responsible for that situation? They are.
We have too many people in our country with a mindset that others should take care of them instead of them taking care of themselves.
What would this country be like if people took ownership and full responsibility of who they are, what they do, how they think, what they say, how they act and the beliefs and values that they live their life by?

• Say what you mean and mean what you say
• Do your own work to the best of your ability
• Tell a friend the truth
• Keep your eyes on your own paper
• Give the cashier the extra money she gave you by mistake
• Write a report in your own words instead of copying
• Admit you made the mistake
• Keep a friend’s secret
• Turn in a wallet full of money that you found
• Admit your faults to yourself and do your best to become a better person
and more…
My most profound day of complete honesty with myself came the day I admitted I was really unhappy with what I had allowed myself to become and that Being Fat Sucks!

* Honesty is telling the truth.
* Honesty is straightforward conduct.
* Honesty is being sincere, truthful, trustworthy, honorable, fair, genuine, and loyal with integrity.
Have we blurred the lines between truth and honesty so much in this world that it is sometimes hard to identify the meaning to ourselves?

I have been through some very interesting lessons of late in my professional life with the way people handle things and to what level are they willing to be honest and take responsibility for what they do and how it effects others. The results have sometimes reminded me of the way I used to avoid the truth about how food was my enemy and my friend from one moment to the next. It also replayed for me the time when I finally found the courage to be honest with myself about how being me… Being Fat… Sucks!
That truth absolutely made it possible for me to finally deal with my pain and sorrow head on.
Why do people cloud the truth? Why do we try to blame instead of accepting what is our contribution to the situation and fixing that?

Stop dieting to lose weight and start eating a good diet to gain health!
What more can I say?
That’s why when I woke up that day and the truth of my situation really hit me… that being me, being fat me… Being Fat Sucks! it all got very simple. I no long complicated it with excuses and justifying why I was doing things to sabotage my good health and my happiness.
Get down to the truth and life becomes simple.

“It doesn’t matter where I am today… because I am taking action to get me to where I want to be tomorrow.”
That quote is one that got me through my times of frustration, exhaustion and despair after I admitted to my self that Being Fat Sucks! and I wasn’t going to live another year of my life that way.
I had to change my way of thinking to change my life.
It worked!
